Selena Gomez sat down with GQ & opened up about a lot- including her rumored rehab stay. Between 2014- 2015, Selena took a step back, revamping her image & career. She dropped her manager- who was her mom at that point- and let go of her Disney image by signing with Interscope. In October 2015, she released Revival- which is still dominating the charts. In the interim, Selena wanted to shed the titles of “Justin Bieber’s girlfriend” & “the singer with Lupus.” “First off, this is something that everyone always wants to fixate on. I got diagnosed with lupus. My mom had a very public miscarriage. So I had to cancel my tour. I needed time to just be okay,” she tells GQ, adding, “and I was going through leukemia.” (She most likely meant chemotherapy.). She goes on saying, “I went to two different locations for those treatments. It’s really frustrating, because I am 100 percent allowed to have that, but I think people just want to have some sort of—” she adds, pretty much at a loss for words. Selena admits to first telling a young boy who was also sick, about her diagnosis- who was actually in the same hospital room Selena was in during her treatments. She says her disease is slowly dissolving as she gets older, but understands that she will have to make changes to maintain her health. She wants to focus on her music & acting, and eventually lose the attachment to being sick. So it’s safe to say- Selena Gomez was NOT in rehab, just laying low- making a better Selena for the world & for herself!
