Kanye West manages to piss people off on a regular basis! A very upset fan is suing the rapper because he feels like he was tricked! Justin Baker-Rhett filed a proposed class action lawsuit in U.S. District Court in San Francisco. The lawsuit accuses West of duping listeners into buying Tidal subscriptions by promising that Pablo would only be available on the allegedly-failing streaming service, calling it a “deceptive marketing ploy” that “fraudulently [induced] millions of American consumers into paying for Tidal’s rescue.” In February, West Tweeted that his album would not be available for physical or digital download, but contrary to that Tweet, it is currently available through Apple Music & Spotify (neither are linked to Tidal). Due to the release of Pablo, the failing streaming sites listenership & subscription numbers were boosted- 250 million streams of the album in 10 days. “Mr. West’s promise of exclusivity also had a grave impact on consumer privacy,” the lawsuit states, ordering Tidal to delete the credit card numbers and other personal information it collected from users, which it values at $84 million. We have a feeling Kanye may lose this battle!
My album will never never never be on Apple. And it will never be for sale… You can only get it on Tidal.
