Bye, bye bikinis- Hello sportswear! Miss Teen USA has decided to remove the bathing suit portion of the competition from its pageant.  The Miss USA organization decided that the 51 women in the pageant will be judged in athletic wear instead, in an effort to support feminism & equality.   The bathing suit competition was intended to promote athleticism, but the organization is hoping that the women will feel less exploited wearing active wear, & the public will focus on the importance of living an active lifestyle, especially for its younger participants.  Reigning Miss Teen USA, Katherine Haik, is supportive of the decision.   “I have been an athlete my entire life. As a member of a softball team and a competitive dance team, I spend a lot of time in athletic wear.” She continued, “This new direction for Miss Teen USA is a great way to celebrate the active lives that so many young women lead and set a strong example for our peers.”
