Scientology has been identified as a mysterious religion popular in Hollywood, with followers including John Travolta & Tom Cruise. In recent years, former followers, such as “King of Queens” actress, Leah Remini, have come out with memoirs about the truth of the religion, its apparent abuse, & it’s cult- like beliefs. Tonight, “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath” will be premiering on A&E. The eight-part docu-series follows actress and former Scientologist Leah Remini as she meets with other church defectors and listens to their often-harrowing stories. Tonight’s opening episode will recap Remini’s involvement in the church that she joined when she was younger after her parents divorce, & her role as “thought leader” for the organization. The episode will focus on the harsh treatment of the church & it’s policy of “disconnection”- where followers shun family & friends who’ve left the organization. The docu- series premiers tonight on A&E at 10pm.
